PlayStation 5

In PlayStation 5 (officially abbreviated PS5) is the home video game developed by Sony for interactive entertainment.

It was announced in 2019 as the successor to the PlayStation 4, and is slated to launch in late 2020.

The platform is expected to launch in two variants, as a base for the PlayStation 5 system that includes an optical drive compatible with Ultra HD Blu-ray for the game retail support along with digital distribution via the PlayStation store, and a low-cost digital variable that lacks the drive while maintaining download support Digital.

PlayStation 5 features a dedicated solid state drive designed for high-speed data flow to enable significant improvements in graphic performance. The device also has a dedicated AMD graphics processing unit capable of tracking rays, support for 4K screens and high frames, new audio devices for real-time 3D sound effects, and compatibility with most PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR games.

History of the device

The first PlayStation 5 news came from chief architect Mark Cerny in an interview with Wired magazine in April 2019. In early 2019, Sony's financial report for the quarter ended March 31, 2019 confirmed that new generation new devices were under development but would not be presented by April 2020.
In a second interview for Wired magazine in October 2019, Sony said it planned to ship the next-generation console around the world by the end of 2020.
The current hardware specifications released in October 2019.
At CES 2020, Sony unveiled the official platform emblem, which follows a minimalist design similar to PlayStation consoles and the previous brand.
The full specifications were presented in an online presentation presented by Cerny and published by Sony and Digital Foundry on March 18, 2020. Digital Presenter spoke to Cerny in detail and published "Deep Dive" on April 2.
A major gaming library display for the PlayStation 5 was planned for June 4, 2020, but was postponed until June 11 in light of events due to George Floyd's protests. This presentation also featured the exterior design of the PlayStation 5.

Sony has officially confirmed that the PS5 will be released globally "in time for the 2020 holiday", so it's possible sometime between October and December 2020 - putting it in direct competition with the Xbox Series X, which is launched in the same window.

A leak indicates that the release date will be November 20, 2020 but this has not yet been confirmed.

However, this date will be in the right window, where we anticipate the launch of the PS5 in November 2020.

November is a date when we saw the launch of PlayStation consoles and will leave time before Christmas to get these orders.

Dr. Lisa Soo, CEO of AMD, confirmed in early May that AMD, the tech giant tasked with making the processor and graphics chips in both next-generation PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles, was "stepping up" to prepare for its launch. 2020. This timing also suggests the November launch period.

The PS5 design was officially unveiled on June 11, 2020. This image above is what the console looks like.

When it comes to revealing the console itself, Sony has installed it - surfing PS5 games reveals an event, and with some surprises in store too. Not a single one, but two PlayStation 5 consoles - Standard Edition with the lower-resolution Blu-Ray 4K and PS5 Digital Edition disc drives will be launched (read more about this below).

They both use USB-C charging for their controllers, and they can use the HD camera accessory, along with the PS5 wireless headphone and media remote. The consoles themselves feature a stunning design that is sure to split the view.

A zigzag blend of black and white plastic with blue highlight lighting, far from the "black box" designs of previous PlayStation consoles. However, exact pricing and availability have not been revealed, which remains a mystery behind the above-mentioned "Holiday 2020" window.

Additionally, Sony said that the PS 5 UI will get a "100% comprehensive fix for the PS4 user interface" - which will be revealed soon.

Sony lifted the cover on PlayStation 5 during its first official PS5 disclosure event in March, which gave us a better idea of the specs that the next-generation console would provide. But what do we think?

What's interesting so far is Sony's commitment to custom silicon, with a full focus on taking gaming capabilities to the next level, without banishing developers who are now comfortable with developing on the PS4. Custom hardware on the PS3 has proven to be a difficult element for developers to grab their attention, but the PS5 aims to be as friendly to developers as possible.

Control tools (shields)

The PS5 will come with a new game-pad, one that Sony calls the DualSense PS5 controller, and not DualShock 5, as you would expect. Also the departure is a bold black and white color scheme - and is likely to be divisive. This is the design confirmed in the image above, and it is closely mirrored by the design of the PS5 console, as I have already seen.

The color scheme of the two-color PS5 controller extends to the four flip buttons, which still consist of a triangle, a circle, a square, and a cross (or X), but they are colorless. There is a colorful spot around the side of the center touch pad, as the PS4 Lightbar has moved from the top of the gaming pad onto the PS5.

The PS5 includes touch notes on the L2 and R2 shoulder buttons that will be adaptive. Sony explains that these adaptive stimuli are important to let players feel nervous about their actions, such as drawing a bow to straighten an arrow. This will allow developers to program catalyst resistance to simulate actions more accurately.

DualSense will have a microphone inside the console, allowing players to shake off headphones to communicate with friends. The "share" button is dead. Long live the "Create" button. That's what Sony calls the in-place button that's still dedicated to game play content to share with the world. Sony raises more details on this button before launching the console.

PS5 Games

We finally got a first look at the "disguised" PS5 game collection from Sony on June 11th, with ads from first and third party developers. The revelation of the June 11 games was a solid showcase of what would come to the PS5, mixing first developers and third parties for more than an hour of game play.

Similar to previous console generations, Wired magazine expects developers to continue releasing new games for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Sony said it will support any publisher who wants to provide PS5 copies of PS4 titles at no additional cost.

Electronic Arts confirmed its 2020 games released for the PS4 such as FIFA 21 and Madden NFL 21 will include a free update to the PS5 release, providing an update for players before the next numerical entry in the sports series.

Bungie likewise said that Destiny 2 gamers can update their game to the improved PS5 version at no additional cost and CD Projekt RED is committed to offering a free upgrade to the Cyberpunk 2077 PS4 owners to improve game images on PlayStation 5.

The console includes generation and backward compatible gaming functions, allowing players to switch back or forth between systems without losing progress, while friends separated by the platform can join the same multiplayer games together.

"It wouldn't be a binary option about whether you have to either be on PlayStation 4 or the next generation to continue your friendship," Sony CEO Jim Ryan said, however Ryan stated in an interview in May 2020 that he wanted Sony's PlayStation Studios to focus only Take advantage of the enhanced PS5's capabilities instead of developing new crosses.

"We have always said that we believe in generations. We believe that when you go into all the hassles of creating a next-generation console, it should include features and benefits that the previous generation does not. And this, in our view, people should create games that can make the most of these features."
